Watch out for AI-slop app blockers
Screen time apps are having a moment, and the app stores have filled up to match. Search for an app blocker today and next to the established names you’ll find a wave of lookalike newcomers: generic names, interchangeable screenshots, a paywall before you’ve seen the app, and privacy policies that read as if they were generated along with everything else.
That matters more for this kind of app than most. A screen time app sits between you and everything else on your phone. Depending on how it’s built, it can see which apps you open, when, and sometimes every website you visit. Before you hand that over, it’s worth five minutes checking who’s behind it.
