How to Block TikTok on iPhone (3 Ways)
Three ways to block TikTok on iPhone, from free to friends-powered: a Screen Time limit, a passcode you don't know, and a group that shares your limit.
“One quick scroll” and suddenly it’s 1am. Here are three ways to stop that, from free to friends-powered.
Note (On iOS 27?)
Apple renamed parts of Screen Time in iOS 27: App Limits is now Time Allowances, and the passcode lives under Passcode & Management. The steps below use the iOS 26 names, which you’ll still see if any of your Apple devices isn’t on iOS 27 yet. On iOS 27, the same options are under the new names.
Method 1: Set a TikTok time limit (free)
- Open Settings, then Screen Time.
- Tap App Limits, then Add Limit.
- Open Social, tick TikTok, then tap Next.
- Set your daily time, e.g. 30 minutes.
- Tap Add.
The catch: when you hit the limit, iPhone offers Ignore Limit. One tap and you’re back in. Fix that with a Screen Time passcode (method 2).
Method 2: Lock it with a passcode (free)
- In Settings, then Screen Time, tap Lock Screen Time Settings and set a passcode. (On iOS 27 it’s under Passcode & Management.)
- Go back to your TikTok limit and turn on Block at End of Limit. This option only appears once a passcode is set.
Now, when you hit your TikTok limit, you need the passcode for more time.
The catch: if you set the passcode yourself, you know it. Most people give it to a friend or partner instead, which works, but they have to come round to type it in, and it’s one-way. (Should you give a friend your passcode?)
Bonus: block the website too. Otherwise you’ll just open TikTok in Safari.
- Screen Time, then Content & Privacy Restrictions. Turn it on.
- App Store, Media, Web, & Games, then Web Content, then Limit Adult Websites.
- Under Never Allow, add tiktok.com.

Method 3: Let your friends hold the keys (Snitch)
If methods 1 and 2 haven’t stuck, the problem probably isn’t the settings. It’s that nobody else is involved.
With Snitch, you and up to 4 friends share a daily screen time pot. Add TikTok to your blocked apps. When your time’s up, you can ask the group for more, but every extra minute comes out of their time too. Funny how much less you need “just five more minutes” when your best mate’s paying for it.
- Download Snitch and make a group (or join a friend’s).
- Pick the apps to limit, including TikTok.
- Agree your daily pot together.
- Go over? The group gets a say.
It works on Android too, so mixed iPhone and Android friend groups can join in.
Which should you use?
| If you… | Try |
|---|---|
| Just need a gentle nudge | Method 1 |
| Keep tapping “Ignore Limit” | Method 2 |
| Have tried both and still end up scrolling | Method 3 |
